When purpose is unknown abuse is inevitable. To abuse one of the privileges and gifts of redemption is one thing you would not want to do. Therefore it becomes imperative for us to do a little study of the subject of prosperity.

Prosperity is more than money; it is a lifestyle that involves spiritual fullness, physical well-being mental soundness, social friendship and financial well-being.

Prosperity is possessing and stewarding wisely all that God gives to you. It results from God’s grace and our faithfulness to follow biblical principles.

A prosperous person is one who is wealthy in all things that eternally matter.

Until we have a comprehensive understanding of what prosperity entails, our search for it will be an exercise in futility and frustration. Calling on God in prayer for financial help will be a waste of time.

“And when you ask, you do not receive it, because your motives are bad; you ask for things to use for your own pleasures.” James 4:3

Riches are products of God’s blessing and His blessing is a product of our covenant walk with Him.

“It is the LORD’s blessing that makes you wealthy. Hard work can make you no richer.” Pro 10:22

The word covenant connotes an agreement or contract.

“Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing” Gen 12:1-3

“and I will bless thee,……….  and thou shalt be a blessing”

It is an agreement, a contract….. God is simply saying “I will bless you but you must agree to be a blessing to others. God blesses for a reason; that you might be a blessing.

This is the primary reason God is going to put His blessing on whatever you do. He does not bless irrationally.

This is the primary purpose of prosperity -to bless others. Kingdom prosperity is all about stewardship

Money is power, and money (power) in the hand of one who does not understand its purpose and usefulness is a dangerous thing. No one should be rich except he who understands its purpose.

“…..and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.” Pro 1:32

The purpose of prosperity is to position and establish you as a blessing on the planet earth…a blessing to the kingdom of God and humanity. This is why God blesses and prospers people.

Stewardship is the ultimate purpose of prosperity!

Knowing why God prospers people is not enough, you must also know how He does it.

There is a way to access every heart desire in the kingdom. It’s an understanding of the “how” that terminates frustrations and enhances our speed of accomplishment. “The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.” Eccl 10:15

The how to kingdom prosperity, is simply about knowing how to position yourself to be a blessing on the earth. The beginning of breakthrough is an understanding that you’re only a steward of God’s money, and a total commitment to function in the kingdom based on this truth. There is no money you have or will ever have that is not or will not be a gift from God.

“The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.”Hagggai 2:8

“Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. ……….For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?” 1Cor4:1,7

As stewards,we are only channels of God’s blessing to the world.

A steward is one engaged or employed to manage another person’s property. He doesn’t own the property.

And God is able to give you more than you need, so that you will always have all you need for yourselves and more than enough for every good cause.  As the scripture says, “He gives generously to the needy; his kindness lasts forever.”  And God, who supplies seed for the sower and bread to eat, will also supply you with all the seed you need and will make it grow and produce a rich harvest from your generosity. He will always make you rich enough to be generous at all times, so that many will thank God for your gifts which they receive from us. 2Cor 9:8-10 (GNB)

“We make a living by what we get, but we make life by what we give”-Winston Churchill

“Surplus wealth is a sacred trust which its possessor is bound to administer in his life time for the good of the community”- Andrew Carnegie

What you give does not leave your life, it only goes into your future. It is a seed that guarantees a harvest. Gen 8:22. It is seed time before harvest time. It is giving before receiving. Phil 4:15-17

  1. Give willingly Exodus 35:5
  2. Give according to what you have. Duet 16:17; 2Cor8
  3. Give cheerfully 2Cor 9:8
  4. Give as an expression of love. John 3:16

Channels for giving

  1. Give to the work of God. Haggai 1:3-11
    • Tithe Malachi 3:6-12
    • Worship offerings Deut 16:16
    • Kingdom projects Exodus 35:4
  2. Give to men of God 1kings 17:9-16
